A Music Therapy seminar workshop for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Elderly, Sick and the Dying was held at the Paco Catholic School last June 30, 2012 and it was sponsored by the Catholic Handicapped led by Fr Luke Moortgat, CICM.

The Music Therapy Seminar Workshop was attended by a good number of crowds from the community of the PWDs, caregivers, elderly, parents, therapists, students and church volunteers.

The Participants had a great time learning what music Therapy is in a lively manner. Interaction was encouraged by the Speakers of the Music Therapy Seminar Workshop led by Celeste S. Sanchez and Maricar S. Magallanes, her daughter, Music therapists from the Divine Mercy Mobile Center of Music and Arts Therapy for Special Children, Adults and Seniors.

Music Therapy Seminar Workshop Participants
A Music Therapy Seminar Workshop for the handicapped, elderly, sick and the dying was held last June 30. 2012 at Karell Hall, Paco Catholic School. It was sponsored by the Catholic Handicapped Development headed by Fr. Luke Moortgat. It was attended by handicapped children and adults, parents, therapists, students and church volunteers.

Celeste S. Sanchez, Music Therapist (Guest Speaker Music Therapy Seminar Workshop)
The Music Therapy seminar workshop guest speaker, Celeste S. Sanchez, covered the following topics: Music for all Ages, History of Music, Music as intrinsic parts of life, Music as Therapy, Music Therapy in Asian Countries and Therapeutic effects of Music Therapy. The workshop seminar in general is about Music as Therapy and the benefits of Music Therapy.

The areas covered by Music Therapy were explained and demonstrated with Music as to what are the music used in Music Therapy, the appropriate songs to be used to aid in the Music Therapy session as a healing tool. 

The recommended Music Demo workshop session for each age level were sung and choreographed by Yolly Mapa, Peachy Tayao and Viron Delima.

According to the participants the seminar is indeed a realization how Music Therapy can make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities, the elderly, the sick and the Dying. They learned what Music Therapy is all 
about with a deeper knowledge as they themselves felt the effects of Music Therapy during the seminar workshop. 








The audience participated with the special children in the physical activities, singing and    instruments playing like the musical Bells, Tambourine, triangle, drums and others.

A special sharing in the workshop were services for the sick and dying to complement the Bishop's approved Commission for the Handicapped, Elderly, Sick and Dying.

The guest speakers were Music Therapists, Celeste S. Sanchez and Maricar S. Magallanes. The coordinators were Myra Magno and Donna Dwarte.
